Thalara was created to help people travel well. Everything we do is rooted in intention, genuine connection, and twenty-five years of learning what actually makes a trip unforgettable.
From missed connections to unforgettable sunsets, we've learned what actually works through decades of travel. Add in a trusted network of suppliers around the world, and every detail of your trip is in capable hands.
My love of travel isn't new. For twenty-five years, I've planned every trip for my own family, across six continents and 31 countries (and counting).
I've hiked the Lofoten Islands in Norway, traveled extensively through Western Europe, stood at Machu Picchu, crossed the Atacama Desert, and explored Patagonia, Belize, Australia, Japan, China, Thailand and many more places. But, it was my trip to Zambia for a safari that quietly rearranged something inside of me. I realized that I didn't just want to keep taking trips like that one. I wanted to help other people take them. That's when Thalara Travel Company was born.
I've made plenty of mistakes along the way, and that experienced, hands-on expertise is exactly what I bring to your trip. Today, I plan upscale full-service trips for people who are busy but still crave a chance to experience the world in a deeper, more personal way.
Specialties: Europe, South America, River & Expedition Cruising, and African Safaris
I’m an avid hiker who feels most alive outdoors. Some of my favorite hiking locations are Vesterålen in Norway, Inca Trail in Peru, Mt. Fuji in Japan, and Red River Gorge in Kentucky. All places where the landscape feels both grounding and awe-inspiring.
Great travel days start with excellent coffee and often end with a glass of wine somewhere memorable.
I’m a lifelong dog lover (especially Beagles!), and I believe every journey home is sweeter when a wagging tail is waiting.
I’ve visited 31 countries (and counting!) across six continents…continent seven coming soon!
Some of my most vivid travel memories come from the table, like tasting authentic mole prepared by a grandmother in Mexico and savoring Nshima and a traditional boma in Zambia under a sky full of stars.
One of my favorite travel memories is watching a leopard silently stalking prey beside our safari game drive vehicle; a moment so close and raw it still gives me goosebumps.
